In neighborhoods around the City of Seattle, SUVA connects migrant and refugee communities to the City and the region. Services we provide include:
Translation Services: Translation and mediation services are available in Amharic, Tigrinya, Oromo, Arabic and other languages. When language barriers are an issue, contact us!
Housing: We have expertise in housing counseling. We have assisted multiple families and individuals to find appropriate and affordable housing. We offer apartment owners support services to encourage responsible tenancy and address challenges growing from cultural misunderstandings.
Family Services: These include counseling, anger management classes, support groups, referral to community resources, workshops and seminars, court liason, family and youth intervention, and community forums.
Educational Services: SUVA offers classes in English as a Second Language. We also offer training to management teams and organizations on working effectively with immigrant and refugee communities. We have several after-school initiatives and tutoring in math, science and other subject areas.
Technology Access: Our technology center is open to the community. Find access to community resources or receive training in how to use technology effectively for job training, writing resumes or simply social connection.
